My boyfriend and I dined at Olive Garden for dinner tonight because all my friends were raving how good the food was. I dined at Olive Garden probably a year ago for my friend`s birthday and thought the food was "alright". Giving Olive Garden another chance when I saw the 2 for $25 Italian Dinner special going around.. however of course my boyfriend and I didn`t spend $25 because I upgraded my entree but still foods affordable for the amount you get...
His - Pasta e Fagioli - White/Red beans, ground beef, tomatoes and pasta in savory broth
Hers - Chicken & Gnocchi - creamy soup made with roasted chicken, Italian dumplings and spinach
Lasagna Fritta - Parmesan breaded lasagna pieces, fried and served over Alfredo sauce topped with Parmesan cheese/marinara cheese.
His - Sausage & Peppers Rustica - Italian sausage, bell peppers and fresh mozzarella with penne
Hers - $5 more for Parmesan Crusted Stuffed Chicken - oven baked stuffed chicken filled with Italian cheeses, sun dried tomatoes and served with choice of side (I chose spaghetti marinara)
Eggplant Parmigiana (The server accidentally gave me the wrong entree and I didn`t notice because I didn`t know what to expect. The eggplant totally tasted like chicken to me shockingly...- what`s rude was I was in the middle of eating the entree, they took the dish and was like this is not yours.. well I ate it already, you`re going to throw it away at least let me to-go it?) - This was lightly breaded eggplant, fried, topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan cheese served with spaghetti.
Drinks: Water and Dr. Pepper
Dessert: None, too full with carbs!
Overall: Our bill came out to be $34, not including tip. The food portion size was HUGE and everything on the menu is full of carbs. We ended up getting two to-go boxes because we were both so full. The food made us so full, we were bloated. I don`t think I will be coming back to Olive Garden - I don`t see the hype with the complementary bread sticks either. A lot of my friends rave on how good the food is and my boyfriend and I didn`t think it was all that great, considering this is our 2nd time. I normally give restaurants two chances and that`s it. This is on my no no restaurant list.
