NTOTD: using Essie`s Poppy Razzi collection

These are my current nails and toes of the day, or the moment. As you all know I recently picked up Essie`s latest collection. Poppy Razzi, a collection of neons. Any of you who buy Essie knows that this is new for them. Most of their color and collections are soft and pale, or dark and bold. This is the 1st time I have seen them come out with bright neon colors.

That being said I think they have do better in the future if they are to continue with this trend. I love the colors. LOVE them. I hate the formula. I had decided to paint my toes in Bazooka. A nice bright orange. While painting them I noticed that the polish was very sheer on the first coat. Not only that but it was a bit hard to spread. It like it was thick, but wasn`t. I thought maybe it was just that one. I waited and let them fully dry without applying a top coat.

Next I went to do my hands. I chose Lights. A bright neon pink. Because I used Bazooka on my toes I couldn`t get a really good look at the finish. With my hands it was obviously much easier. That being said, the formula really is as I thought. Its sheer and goopy on the 1st coat and does not allow for an even application. If you try without redipping the brush you end up with pulls and streaks. If you redip you end up with uneven coats. I had to wait in between the coats to get them as opaque and even as possible. Once they were dry and prior to putting on a top coat I gave them a good look. The finish is odd. Its not shiny, yet not quite matte. It actually resembled jelly. Well sort of like jelly sandals if you`ve ever seen them. I wasn`t too happy.

After looking back at my toes I didn`t like how they looked plain so I went and got CG Luxe and Lush flakie polish. For my toes I ended up putting it on all of them. For my hands just the ring fingers. While I love flakies, this was not one of the best ones I`ve used. The polish itself was really thick and doesn`t apply as evenly and smooth as I would like. Even with top coats I can feel the flakes.

Overall I love the colors, but the formulas. I`m hoping if they get enough feedback that they will go back and use a different formula for the future.

*note* both my hand and toes were freshly painted so I had not yet applied oil to my cuticles. I prefer to do so afterwards so the polish adheres to the nails better. I also used my artificial nails base coat. Lets see if it works how it should.

What do you think of these do`s? Do you like the colors? After reading my initial thoughts will you be purchasing these?
