I find it a bit sad that I haven`t found the time to paint my nails (coming for a girl that would change her polish every few days). So I decided to make some time and pamper my sad looking nails. While I stood in front of my polish drawers, I didn`t know which colour to pick. However, fall is here and I thought it would be appropriate to pick a colour to reflect the season. The colour I finally decided on was Nicole by OPI Shoot For The Maroon.
What I used:
-Base: I used one coat of Seche Vite Natural. This is a matte nail treatment, not a matte top coat like many believe.
-Colour: I used three coats of Nicole by OPI: Shoot For The Maroon.
-Top: I used one coat of Seche Vite. This is my favourite top coat. It dries super fast and it leaves a wonderful shine afterwards.
Review of Shoot For The Maroon:
-Colour: It is a great fall/vampy colour: dark burgundy with shimmer. When the bottle is held in the sunlight, the shimmers reflect a lovely golden colour (duochrome), however, these colours can`t be seen on the nails. It would have been great to have the golden colour come out; may have made the polish more fall than it is!
-Application: I like that the polish consistency was even; not too runny and not too thick. I had to use three coats of this polish. When I applied the first coat, the polish left a brown streaky colour (not very pretty). The second coat made it more like the colour seen in the bottle, but you could still see some bald spots on my nails. So I applied one more coat to make it just like the colour seen in the bottle.
-Brush: I didn`t like the brush (flat and fat) for this polish since it was `too fat` for my tiny nails. I found it difficult to apply without the polish running out onto my cuticles and sides of my skin. I find that all the new polishes by this line is now made with this brush.
-Price: I find that most polishes here in Canada are overpriced compared to the US. This bottle costs $10 compared to $7.
What`s your favourite fall colour? Do you like Nicole by OPI?
