After reporting that I had two days in a row with manicure I didn`t like, I can now say I`m on day two of manicures I DO like! WOOT! :-) I was unsure of what I wanted to do, I just knew I wanted something rather muted in comparison to the other manicures I`ve had on recently. I did what I always do at this point and sat down with a bundle of my polishes and sorted through colors that were catching my attention. I had pulled out lots of tans and muted golds. I somewhat worked around one of the polishes I hauled from Target earlier in the week: Sally Hansen Honey Whip. I had gotten a lot of comments that it wasn`t their first choice of a nail color. I wanted to feature that polish to show that it could be dolled up and made quite lovely. I started by applying a coat of Sally Hansen Triple Strong. Then, I swiped on two coats of Sally Hansen Honey Whip. Working from the tip of the nai towards the cuticle I dabbed on Julep Sienna. In a similar fashion, I applied Julep Mila. As a final touch I applied pale baby blue and golden orange rhinestones to a couple accent nails (thumbs and ring fingers). Everything was sealed in with a coat of Seche Vite. I felt Sienna and Honey Whip worked perfectly together. They complimented each other very nicely. I added Mila in because I felt the subtle multi-colored micro glitters would be an unexpected touch. It worked amazingly over the top. I selected this particular rhinestone coloring because I love tans and blue together and wanted to bring forth a bit more color than the micro glitters would do alone. Instead of going with a clean, bright yellow center I chose a more burnt coloring to sort of reflect the shade of the base polish, which has a lot of strange yellow tones to it. All in all, I am really enjoying this manicure. I feel it isn`t over the top yet has levels of elegance and fun to it. Plus, it is an appropriate summer turning to fall design.
