I did this nail design back in April. I was so ready for spring in February, but where I live we really only get consistent rain, so that beautiful spring weather only shows up briefly around April. This design was supposed to be very in keeping with the gloomy raining days. I used Zoya`s Kristen as a base. It is a gray that still has a little life in it because the polish has a natural shine, but it also has that hint of bluish purple in it. This is what the sky looks like when it rains ;)
This design is much easier than it looks! I looked up a tutorial on YouTube, and it`s much less complicated and time consuming compared to other nail designs I`ve done.
STEP 1: Apply an even two coats of a gray polish over all of your nails.
STEP 2: Let`s do the "hard part" first! Select one pastel pink nail polish and one more vibrant pink. This part is pretty much improvisation. You want to take the more vibrant pink, and with a nail brush, make blots of pink in the shape of a flower or a really puffy cloud!
STEP 3: While you like the vibrant pink puffs dry. Take a dotting tool, and create white polka dots on the nails you don`t want the floral design. Of course, you can do the floral design over all your nails like the online tutorials, but I think all the floral can look busy and sometimes messy.
STEP 4: Now that the vibrant pink puffs have dried, it`s time to define them with the pastel pink. There`s no instruction to this, I sort of just outline edges or wisp in petals. Another way I`ve seen this done, is you blot the pastel pink in just like you did with the vibrant pink, but I think drawing the lines looks cleaner, and the polish won`t be as thick.
STEP 5: Then choose a lime green polish and a forest green polish. Create the leaves. For this, I just take the nail brush dot a little green onto my nail, then I press down a little on the brush to drag the dot out into a point.
STEP 6: Seal all your nails with a top coat, and it`s time to celebrate the spring time!
