I have been seeing acid wash nails circulating the nail blogs so I decided I would try my hand at it. I didn`t want to just do the acid wash denim look, though, so I selected three colors from the Essie Bikini So Teeny Summer collection and tried it out with them layered. The end result is not exactly what I was going for, but interesting all the same. I think when I try this again (and you betcha I will!) I will swipe down the nail only and not all over the place. I think vertical lines would have been more appealing. Not that what I have here is bad, but I think in my head I pictured something else. The three colors I used are Cascade Cool, Bikini So Teeny, and Mojito Madness. I randomly layered them over one another and each nail has a different order in which they were layered. Some nails start with the green, others the pink, and others STILL the blue... I just went wild with it, hahaha! Once I had them layered, I took a q-tip with pure acetone and swirled all over the nail, removing layers of each coat. It creates an interesting effect as it unveils the layers. You just have to be careful to not remove too much and expose the nail. Once I was satisfied with what I had, I applied a coat of China Glaze Golden Enchantment and a coat of Seche Vite to seal everything in and quickly dry all of the layers I had going on. I love the idea of this and will be trying it out more and playing around with colors and patterns that can be created into the layers. I have a few ideas floating around already.
