Just recently we found out about the North Island Naval Base beach, located in Coronado. There aren`t a lot of people there like most beaches and finding parking is a breeze! I`m guessing because it`s just for Military personnel & family that`s why it`s not busy. So I guess it`s sort of like a private beach just for military. If you look to the left of the beach, you will see the famous Coronado Beach, next to the Hotel Del Coronado. You will see that it`s PACKED as usual. Thankfully there`s a fence that separates both beaches.
Anyway, my husband`s family came into town and we went here to boogie board and skim board. If any of you haven`t gone boogie boarding, you should definitely try it out. It`s really easy! All you have to do is ride the waves once they come, and the waves will bring you to shore (if it`s a big, good wave). You can get the boogie boards at any recreational store & they vary in price depending on how big of a board you want. However skim boarding is a little more difficult, but just as fun! When the water washes up to shore, and starts to go back down, you throw the board and you hop on it like a skateboard and ride the shoreline. It`s hard at first but practice makes perfect! I still haven`t perfected the skim board yet, but working on it! I can hop on it and ride it for a short while then I fall off.
Have any of you guys gone boogie boarding? or skim boarding?
