The biggest excuse people come up with for avoiding exercise is by saying they simply do not have the time for it. That may be true in some cases, but really, there are ten easy ways for you to sneak a workout into your daily routine.
TURN YOUR COMMUTE INTO A WORKOUT
Running is probably your first thought. But if you don`t want to risk being all sweaty and smelly after running to class/work, you could just walk. You don`t even have to walk the whole way; just get off the bus or train a few stops earlier or park your car farther away and finish the rest of the trek by foot.
SET YOUR ALARM EARLY
Wake up earlier in the morning so you can get exercise out of the way. It`s probably hard to motivate yourself into working out and losing more sleep time for it, but once it becomes a routine you will notice how much better you feel. It really helps set your circadian rhythms, so you might just end up sleeping earlier and waking up earlier! This would probably be the hardest for myself.
SNEAK IN A LUNCH BREAK WORKOUT
Instead of wasting your sixty minutes eating lunch at your desk and checking Facebook, you could spend that time at the gym or taking a nice walk.
WORK OUT AT WORK
Probably not every office will allow you to bring a stability ball to work, but if they do, take advantage of it! If you can`t, then keep weights at your desk and do some reps when you have the time.
TAKE THE KIDS WITH YOU
Invest in a jogging stroller or a strap-on carrier.
MULTITASK ON THE TREADMILL
Carry weights with you when you hop on the treadmill. Just set it to a brisk walk for ten minutes and do some reps.
MAKE IT A DATE
My boyfriend and I actually hit the gym together all the time. If you`re single, make a date with a bunch of friends.
DON`T JUST WAIT IN LINE
Waiting in lines SUCK. Use that time to do lunges, squats, or toe touches. Yeah, people will look at your weird, but at least you`ll be fit!
NO MORE COUCH POTATO
Don`t just sit there and watch TV. Instead, do pushups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, or squats.
POWER UP YOUR STAIR CLIMBS
Don`t just walk up your stairs leisurely. Try to increase your speed and the number of stairs you take per minute. I can vouch for this because I actually get sore sometimes.
