A quick nails of the day for the manicure I came up with yesterday. Usually I have some inspiration for my nails, either from images I see on tumblr or instagram, or other stuff like that. So when I start my nails I usually have some idea of what I want to achieve. For this manicure I started from complete scratch. I brought down a bunch of polishes and nail art tools and sat down to watch "How to Train Your Dragon" on television. My first thought was to use pastel colours (mint green, lavender, baby pink, and baby blue) to create an ombre, gradient effect on my nails and then try and add a gradient glitter on top of that. However when I tried that, the polish didn`t really come off on my nails the way I was hoping. So I started from scratch again. I eventually went in with a Revlon Top Speed polish in Lily which is a lavender and painted 2 coats on all my nails on top of my OPI Nail Envy base coat. I then sponged on Essie Bikini So Teeny which is a baby blue on half of each nail and used a top coat to smooth over the design. The top coat I was using was a Revlon fast dry top coat. I want to say here that while the top coat is not horrible I do NOT recommend this top coat. I have a lot of problems with it and eventually had to use my Seche Vite instead. Anyways...after I sponged on the baby blue, I went in with my Konad stamping kit and stamped on silver stars using Nicole by OPI Positive Energy. I tried to center it on my nails, but I still need a lot of practice. After a top coat, I was done!
I have included a close up of one of my nails, so this is where I apologize for not having it cleaned up. This manicure didn`t end up being as perfect as I wanted, it smudged in places due to the Revlon top coat, and overnight I got sheet print on my nails. However, I just don`t have the energy to redo them all! Next time, I won`t be using any other top coat than Seche Vite. It always seems to work for me, but I think I`m going to go pick up Seche Restore soon.
Last thing guys...I have a horrible time coming up with names for my manicures and I need your help. When I look at this I`m reminded of periwinkle, I don`t know why, but that`s why this post is called Periwinkle Stars. If you have any good names, please let me know!
That`s it! Those are my nails!
