Tennis star Rafael Nadal revealed details about his knee ailment that forced him to renounce the Olympics and the U.S. Open for the first time. He suffered the Hoffa`s disease in his left knee, which is also known under the name Hoffa Kastert syndrome, said the third in the world rankings.
This disease causes a swelling of the fat tissue, which is located below the knee of the patellar tendon. It can be very painful when you do any kind of turning movements. It is usually treated by immobilisation of the knee. In certain cases, surgery may be recommended.
Nadal appeared cautiously optimistic and talked about a possible participation in the semi-finals of the Davis Cup on 14 to 16. "I will do everything I can to recover as quickly as possible," said the left-hander. "If the captain counts on me, it would be a pleasure for me to be there," told Nadal the Spanish news agency Efe in Manacor, Mallorca.
