I try to care for my skin as much as possible, since it is exposed to pollution and sunlight often. I would say that it is probably the most important routine because you will only have your own skin for the rest of your life (obviously) so why not treat it well now? There are a few key products that i use and I feel like it has helped protect my skin from the harsh climate and conditions.
-Every time I wear makeup, I make it a habit to remove it at night with Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser. This face wash does what it claims to do; it effectively removes all the makeup and residue on my face without making it feel dry and it works great as an everyday cleanser.
-Even after washing my face, there may still be traces of gunk so I follow up with toner. The toner that I use is the Avalon Organics Vitamin C Balancing Facial Toner which I got at Target. What attracted me to this product was the vitamin C in it, because it supposedly helps your skin look smoother and healthier. It also has a pleasant orange-y smell which is an added bonus.
-After all that washing and "toning", my skin is feeling deprived of its moisture. I like to use Bio-Oil to help recover my skin to its natural moisture. It doesn`t clog the pores and I think it does a decent job at moisturizing my skin. I actually bought the drugstore brand because it was slightly cheaper and contained the same ingredients as the original one. However, I don`t think it reduces the appearance of scars and wrinkles as it claims to do. Also, my skin looked oily after applying it to my whole face, so I would suggest using it at nighttime.
-Once a week or when I feel that my skin needs a treatment, I grab my Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque and a foundation brush and apply it all over my face. I leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then rinse it off, and my skin feels refreshed and smoother. It can also be used as a spot treatment for pimples because it dries them right up.
This is just my basic skin care routine and I will probably switch things up from time to time because the skin can become accustomed to the products and not respond to them. In addition to using skin care products, eating healthy and drinking lots of water is essential for your skin`s health.
