Last weekend, a vegan/vegetarian shoe store in my neighbourhood was having a flash sale - all of their clearance shoes were on sale for $35! Unfortunately, I found out about the sale a bit too late, so they were sold out of almost everything in my size. Fortunately, I did find a pair of sandals that were marked down from $120!
The style of shoe I got is called "Natalie", buy a Portuguese brand called Novacas. This company claims to be animal-friendly, environmentally-friendly, and worker-friendly. Their shoes are made of synthetic materials, but are PVC-free. All around, it sounds to me like a pretty awesome, ethical brand.
I wasn`t 100% taken with the style of these shoes at first, but they really grew on me. =) They sort of look like a cross between spats and sandals, and are a pretty neutral colour, so they go with pretty much anything. They are also really comfortable - they don`t chafe or rub my feet. I`ve worn them almost every day this past week and my feet feel really pampered, compared to when I was wearing my usual pair of Skechers work shoes, which actually really hurt!
Overall, I am really happy with my purchase. This pair of shoes was inexpensive for me, but it appears that they are ethically sourced, so that makes it even better, in my mind. =)
If you happen to see Novacas shoes around, I`d recommend at least trying them on. They are pretty awesome, as far as I can tell!
Have you ever heard of Novacas? Where do you usually buy your sandals?
