My First(And Perhaps Only) Experience With Acrylic Nails

Prom was just one week ago and the morning of Prom I went to a nail salon to get my nails done. I had scheduled myself for a manicure and pedicure. I did NOT want tips. I knew they would temporarily damage my nails and I cherish my long and healthy natural nails.
I sat down in the chair and before I knew it the woman in front of me grabbed my hand and started using some tool to file down and essentially ruin my nails. She said "what kind of tip you want to do today?" It was too late. I had to get acrylic nails. I also didn`t have the heart to tell her I just wanted my nails painted.
The process it`s self was not painful and was actually very quick. My nails turned out decent, but on the edge of one nail there was a little dent. They looked very nice but I do not like the appearance of artifical nails.
Three days after prom I bought some pure acetone and soaked them off myself because i could not stand looking at them any more.
After removing them my nails were so short and extremely rough. After buffing and buffing and taking very good care of them they are still not the same. when I apply polish it bubbles up and does not look good.
I would only recommend artificial nails to those that would continue to get them done because you`re natural nail will be damaged for quite some time after the process.
I do not think I will ever go to get acrylics again.
