Lately ive been in a crafty mood and when I say crafty I mean sewing quilting to be specific.
I recently bought me a new machine a brother SQ9500 which ive done a post on already its a computerized sewing machine and its been magnificent so far. Ive done 3 projects not all complete as two re pending batting and backing but one Im going to tell you about is my first ever Jelly Roll Quilt Top.
Thanks to YouTube and Missouri Star Quilt Company I was introduced to Jelly Rolls what are Jelly Rolls your asking? they are strips of fabric typically 2.5in x 42 you get 20-40 strips per packI bought my packs at Joanns and got 20 strips so I bought 2 to make a nice sized lap quilt.
What do you do with these strips? Well you sew them all together yes you sew every strip together at a diagnol seam making 1 long string of fabric strips you than fold the beginning to the end strip and sew a quarter inch seam all the way down cutting the end fold you keep doubling and it magically turns into a jelly roll quilt.
The above one is a gorgeous Green, Brown, Tan color with stripes and paisly I love my first!
