My mom surprised me yesterday by telling me she made me an appointment for a manicure! Apparently she won a free "Caribbean Manicure" at an Aveda spa from a work party and decided to give it to me! I was super pumped because, to be honest, I`ve never had a professional manicure before! Call me a deprived child, but I`ve just never been able justify getting one when I can just do my nails myself.
ANYWAYS when I went to the salon I got my nails filed and cuticles oiled, soaked and trimmed which I`m sure is standard. After that I had my hands and forearms painted with a seaweed paste and wrapped in hot towels for 10 minutes. The manicurist was all like, "Okay, I`ll turn off the lights and let you relax," so I kinda just sat in the dark with my hands wrapped in towels... I kinda felt more like a weirdo than relaxed hahaha
Then she washed the seaweed off, massaged my hands with some cream (which felt amaaaazing!) and did my nails! I picked out a really pretty sea green color by China Glaze (sorry didn`t catch the exact name of it). Unfortunately, the polish bubbled a bit, but my nails still look cute :3 My hands also felt pretty soft afterwards!
Overall, it was a nice experience, but I don`t really see the big deal about going for manicures. I`d definitely go again if I was to get a cool design on my nails, but for a normal paint job I just found it meh
What do you all think of manicures?
Photos are my own.
