The photo above is what my mom prepared and made this morning. She made three batches, one for our family and the other two batches to give away to family and friends. Vietnamese "Xoi" is a sweet or savory Vietnamese dish made from glutinous rice and other ingredients and in this case mung beans are used. This dish that my mom made is called Xoi Vo which essentially is called Mung Bean Sticky Rice and you can eat this for breakfast, lunch, dinner as a side dish or whenever you want. This is more of a dessert though. And to serve this you typically add some crushed peanuts on top.
I am not quite sure how the recipe goes but you cook it in a double boiler thing which I think is super cool. Ours is 3 stories high but my mom finished one already so I snapped a photo of just two. Below is a link of a recipe if you`re interested on making this but if it`s your first time trying this kind of Xoi out the local Asian market sells a small portion of this for about $2-3. Do you own one of those boiler pots? =)
Have you ever tried any Vietnamese Xoi before?
