Movie Review: The Iron Lady (2011)

Hi everyone!

I have one week left for my holidays so I have been catching up on some movies. I got a chance to see the Iron Lady starring the wonderful Meryl Streep.

Meryl won an Academy award for her role as Margaret Thatcher and I must say it was well deserved! Her makeup artist also won an academy award and I must say he did a remarkable job. She actually looked like Margaret!

This movie was great! Margaret Thatcher was the first and up to this day only female British Prime minister. Honestly I did not know her life story or much about her because she was before my time and I`m not British. But I was amazed by this woman and her life story.

She came from a normal background and her degree was in Chemistry at Oxford! She climbed her way to the top in a field that was dominated by males to become Prime Minister in a time I didn`t think was possible.

What I like about her was she stuck to her beliefs and ideals even though all those around her disagreed. She had to lead in a time when times were bad economically and the IRA (rebels) and trade unions were causing chaos. She must have done something right to be in office 3 straight terms -11 years until she stepped down.

I really admire her because she is a strong woman. This movie was really well made and I enjoyed it.

I recommend you seeing it if you have not already.

Margaret Thatcher is away from the public eye as she is ill and suffers from dementia :(

My favourite quote from the movie:
"Watch your thoughts for they become words. Watch your words for they become actions. Watch your actions for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become your character. And watch your character, for it becomes your destiny! What we think we become." Margaret Thatcher

Have you seen this movie?
Are you a Meryl Streep fan?
