I rented this movie from Redbox the other night and Im really glad I did! I found this to be SUCH a good movie, that I give it two thumbs up!
The film has some very familiar faces in it but Ill name the top three main actors in the film: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen and Anna Kendrick. Joseph did a fantastic job portraying his character, Adam, in the light that he did. Seth brings his normal humorous charm to the big screen bringing humor to a matter which is a very tough one to deal with. Anna brings her genuine charm to the screen in her quirky yet authentic nature.
Firstly, 50/50 is based around a true story. The story itself is about a young man, at the age of 27, finding out that he has a rare form of cancer. He has to struggle with the knowledge of his diagnosis and begins the process of trying to fight and treat his cancer and deal with the world and his relationships along the way. Adam has an overbearing mother, a father with Alzheimers, a best-friend & co-worker who is lighthearted and isnt afraid to voice his opinion, and a girlfriend who is deeply hated by his best friend. To deal with the stress of his newfound diagnosis Adam seeks help from a young yet not highly experienced therapist. The story and the uphill battle chugs on from there.
I would classify the movie as a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. The acting and just the sensitivity of the topic at hand can really wrench at your heart strings; while there are other moments where you are laughing at some of the things that are being said and are happening. You will laugh, you will cry and you will undoubtedly be glued to the screen.
Have you watched 50/50 yet? If not, would this be a movie youd consider renting?
