Next on my tour for everyone about must see Mountains in North Carolina is Mount Pisgah. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina it`s located just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway about 15 miles from Asheville, NC in Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson and Transylvania counties. As with most mountains along the Blue Ridge Parkway there are plenty of trails to hike on to reach the tops of them and Mount Pisgah is no different. Mount Pisgah is one of the few mountains that you can see the entire Blue Ridge mountain chain from and offers some of the most spectacular views on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are several Picnic areas around the mountain all offering great views with the Mount Pisgah campground and the Mount Pisgah Inn Lodge and Restaurant. Although the Inn can be a little expensive. As for the TV tower on top, the 339 ft (about 103 m) tower is there becasue Mount Pisgah is the only Mountain for 100 or so miles that offers a clear transmission point for Television broadcasts for the area. There has been plenty of controversy about it, but Park officials the the FCC have agreed to let the tower stay as long as WLOS (the tv station who`s the tower belongs to) helps maintain the area surrounding the tower and pays for any damages it may incur. Despite the Tower seemingly spoiling the view, Mount Pisgah is a very beautiful mountain to visit and it is very Family Friendly. So be sure to add this wonderful mountain to your list if you`re ever driving down, or up the Blue Ridge Parkway!
