Next on my list of must visit beaches of North Carolina takes us out of the Outer Banks and into one of North Carolina`s sounds, Pamlico Sound, to Minnesott Beach. Located in Pamlico County just south of New Bern, Minnesott Beach was once a huge thriving vacation destination in North Carolina during the 1950`s, but as time went on it has evolved into a retirement community. But that doesn`t mean it`s just for old folks. Oh no. The Parts of this beach that made it popular back in the 50`s are still around. A High class 18 hole gold course and Gold Club, miles of sailing and other boating adventures, several marinas, and wonderful boardwalks along the Neuse River and Pamilco sound, and several hiking trails in the area with some lovely picnic areas with wonderful views of the Pamlico sound. There are several beaches although not as long as the ones on the Outer Banks they are still very popular to go to. But most famous of all is the high class all boys and all girls camps and summer camps Cape Seagull and Camp Seafarer. These two camps focus on seamanship and teaching kids the lifestyle of a sailor along with nature conservation in and around the Pamlico sound area. So if you`re looking for a nice round of golf or a summer camp along to beach to send your kids then Minnesott Beach is the perfect place for you and them.
