I`m a big fan of jelly beans, especially jelly belly. But jelly belly is sometimes pricey so I opt for a cheaper yet still very juicy version called Mike & Ikes. They`re not really jelly beans, more like oblong shaped fruit candy with a hard candy shell and a soft interior.
I found this theatre sized box at Dollarama for $1! So I decided to buy it.
There`s 5 different flavors:
Red = Cherry
Yellow = Lemon
Green = Lime
Orange = Orange
Pink = Strawberry
This candy is entirely fat free because it is mostly sugar but it doesn`t use real fruit juice, like jelly belly does. I think that`s why Mike & Ike is super cheap.
But they are very juicy and a good treat. For a movie-sized box, you can even share with friends =)
The thing I love about jelly beans in general is that in summer, they don`t melt in your hand because of the hard candy shell. The inside is usually very chewy and soft, which is good.
I just don`t like the extra chewy ones that get stuck on your teeth.
There`s also two more varieties for Mike & Ikes, one is the berry flavored one and the other is called Hot Tamales, which I think are cinnamon flavored candy.
Have you guys tried this?
