My cousin was in town for the weekend and we decided to go to Downtown Disney for drinks and dinner one evening. We walked around a bit afterward and decided to stop in at one of the dessert places! They had gorgeous chocolate-covered apples, sweet treats, and yummy desserts galore! A got a couple things, this cute Mickey Mouse macaron included!
A macaron is a French smeringue-based dessert confection made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond (and often other flavorings), and then food coloring for the pretty different colors they come in (sometimes even made from the natural oils used). I`ve had them on a few occasions and have always liked them, so when I saw this large Mickey one, I knew I had to go for it!
The flavor on the outside was a sweet cherry. It was delicious! I love the little crunch but chewiness it has. Yum! The inside had a chocolate filling. My only complaint was that the filling seemed to be lacking - it definitely needed more. But it was still good overall!
I would love to try all the other Disney-themed treats that were available at Downtown Disney!
