One of the subjects I hold really close to my heart and been fighting for a long time here in my country is for us to have more respect and more Art classes in school, for kids to develop every single good aspect f their personalities, so when I saw this headline today I was filled with happiness.
I will the first one to admit that I dont really understand much about politics in the US since I dont live there, but to have the first lady to supports Art in school is tremendous. I remember growing up wanting to have music classes and art classes in school, but that was totally not a reality for me.
I dont know if every school in the US have an Arts program or something like that, but it would be really amazing if they did, it would be awesome if music was required in school just as much as math and chemistry are.
Here`s what the first lady had to say about it: For so many young people, arts education is the only reason they get up out of bed in the morning, Michelle said (via the Los Angeles Times). Just like Janelle, they go to school each day because theres an instrument they want to play, a musical they want to perform in, a painting they are dying to finish. So then once they arrive in those classrooms, thats when we can teach them something else, like math and writing and science. That is the power of the arts for so many of our young people.
And I agree with her, it`s not just because arts are fun, but because they are an escape for children as specially teenagers that go through so many changes. Having a way to express themselves is so important. I can say that because I really missed it in my school days.
