My sister has recently turned me onto the idea of picking up lunch at Metro grocery store. She`s a university student, so she is often in need of a quick and inexpensive lunch.
I was with her one day and we were both looking for a quick but not fast food option when we drove by a Metro and she suggested grabbing food from there.
Metro actually has an extensive array of `ready-to-go` items, including items out of their in house bakery. They have a wood fired oven in the location we went to, and they make fresh breads for sandwiches, and pizzas served whole or by the slice.
They also have items like burritos or ready to heat items like lasagna.
They also have a surprising selection of pre-made salads.
In the end, I decided on a small cucumber and tomato salad and a Italian bread sandwich with turkey, provolone and fresh vegetables, including spinach and tomato.
The sandwich was 5 dollars, and the salad was only 2.99, so I was able to have a delicious and filling lunch for just around 9 dollars including tax!
I was totally impressed with the quality of the ingredients, but as it turns out, they are making these foods fresh throughout the day.
I can totally see myself going to Metro more often for a quick and easy lunch.
