Summertime is here, and the Mens World is living a little too easily. After once again seeing the collective bro patrol that makes up the West Coast propogate their visual shennanigans throughout Vancouver, I found it necessary to count down a list of basic menswear needs.
Well first start with the summer blazer. I suggest grey for versatility, though some form of seersucker, or light shade will do just as well. Below is the color blocked Topman Oxford Donkey Heritage blazer; a funny name for a classic piece. If two bills is more than you want to spend, dip into H&M and youll find some variance of the same style for around $80.
Cheeky sneakers are defined by a classic style that takes a chance in some way or another. Take Rag & Bones RB sneaks; they are a perforated leather design that stays summery by offering a low ankle cut and woven laces. While many swing away from leather during the summer, there is no need, especially when perforation is present.
For the bottoms, there is usually more fun in choosing a quirky pair of shorts than an odd top. Oliver Spencers seersucker shorts can be worn with a matching blazer for a super prep look, or with a darker t-shirt for the look of urban cool.
I specifically chose Beta Units Flux Cpacitor to exemplify the anti-tee; this is a subtle design that communicates much, while being able to hold its own with a busier patterned bottom. Finish off with a cheeky, colorful bag like Fjällrävens Kanken bag (it comes in a variety of different colors if teal isnt to your taste).
