Anne Serrano-McClain knows that scent is a powerful conduit to the past. An avid globe-trotter, McClain founded MCMC Fragrances to evoke memories and experiences in others, as well as capture fleeting emotions from her own personal history. Her "Humanity Fragrance Project" collection, in particular, draws from McClain`s passion for community development, far-flung destinations, and exotic local ingredients. A trip in February 2012 to the Children Rainbow Orphanage in rural Cambodia, for instance, inspired two of her latest perfumes: "Savann," which boasts notes of mango, pink lotus, water lily, and sandalwood, and "Amara," a scent that contains regional Kampot black pepper, jasmine sambac, incense, and Kambodi oud.
