Anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely love to read. I know there`s a lot of other readers out there like me, which is why I`ve decided to make a series the first of every month where I feature books that I just finished reading the month prior that I highly recommend. If I think it`s worth recommending, I`ll review it in a post. I hope you`ll find these posts helpful if you`re looking for suggestions on which book to read next because I have a lot of them :)
For this post, though, I am reviewing three books because they`re in the same genre. The first book is The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Second is Don`t Sweat the Small Stuff for Women by Kristine Carlson, and finally is The Magic again by Rhonda Byrne.
I am always looking to improve my life in any way that I can, and when I came across Dulce Candy`s video of her talking about all three of these books and the way they`ve helped change her life, I was instantly intrigued, and bought all three without a second thought. I read them one right after another.
I seemed to have finished the books almost the same day I bought them. It was hard to put down. Each one really does help to improve your life if you let it. I feel like the advice these books give is a simple, but powerful one, and if one learns to start incorporating some simple routines in his or her everyday life, he or she will notice a betterment in the quality of life.
The first book I read was "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne. This was the first book of its kind I`d ever read. In it, I`ve learned not only what the secret was, but how to use the secret, and effectively apply it in all aspects of my life like money, health, relationships, and happiness. It`s all about the law of attraction. This knowledge helped me change my way of thinking, and allowed for a better understanding of how to attract the things I want in my life. It works!
The second book I purchased was "Don`t Sweat the Small Stuff for Women" by Kristine Carlson. This book is all about reducing stress, which, as a law school student and the eldest of five siblings who still lives at home, was something that I really needed. It`s full of advice and comforting thoughts about how to live a better, more fulfilling life by eliminating all the unnecessary "small stuff" that we, as women, stress about so much and make into such a big deal. After finishing this book, I felt almost silly because I realized how crazy stressed I used to get over the smallest, stupidest things. Carlson does a great job addressing those issues women often stress about the most, and offers great ideas like meditations to help us appreciate our lives, and keep our emotions in perspective. I`ve never felt as calm and content as I have since reading this book now that I don`t stress about every single thing! Because of this book, I now know how to handle situations like that, so no more stress!
Finally, is "The Magic" by Rhonda Byrne. I found this somewhat similar to The Secret, but what I loved about this book was that it had a 28-day journey that consists of doing the seemingly smallest tasks, yet it carries the greatest meaning. Whereas "The Secret" talked about the law of attraction, The Magic is all about gratitude. This book has a great message along with its eye opening interactive exercises. That`s why I`d recommend it.
That`s it for May`s recommended reading. I hope you`ve enjoyed this month`s selection, and I do encourage you to invest your time in reading any one of these books simply because of what they`ve done for me. These books will change your life for the better IF YOU LET THEM! :)
