I know I am late on doing a full review on the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow, but I wanted to give myself time to really test them so I could give my true opinions after using them several times. So far, I only have two colors: Bad to the Bronze and Tough as Taupe, and I enjoy both of them. Listed below are the descriptions that Maybelline gives on their website about the product:
Product Details- Ink technology creates 24HR wear shadow for our most intense, long-lasting color saturation
Cream formula glides on without creasing and keeps color vibrant
Ophthalmologist-tested. Safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers
Reccomended Use- High impact look: Illuminate. With fingertips, sweep all over eye from inner corner and work outwards. For added drama, darken as desired.
Here are my thoughts:
Packaging: I really like the packaging. The name is listed on the top of the product, but even if you are not able to differentiate between the colors depending on the names given, you still are able to tell what it is inside without opening it because you can see the product through the bottom of the container. I think this is really great for storing purposes.
Color & Finish: Out of the colors that I have, they are great. They are intense and very pigmented. Based on the colors that I have, I can tell that they must come in a variety of finishes, as Tough as Taupe is a satin finish and Bad to the Bronze has a shimmer.
Texture: It is smooth and creamy. For some reason, I find Bad to the Bronze to be much smoother than Tough as Taupe.
Staying Power: In my opinion, there may have been a bit of exaggeration on Maybellines part when they claimed a 24 hour staying power. The longest Ive worn these is 12 hours, and there was creasing even though I used a primer. They began to crease around the 6th hour. However, if I top these with an eye shadow, I do not notice creasing until the 8th hour. If I do not top these with a shadow, the color does fade noticeably as the day goes on.
Price: The average price, as listed on the Maybelline website, is $6.99, which is a great price. It is a very affordable product, and very much worth the money, in my opinion.
Color Selection: There are a total of 10 colors to choose from, which I think is great for a drugstore product. It comes in a variety of colors, including both neutrals and bright colors.
Overall Rating: I would give this a rating of 5/5. Although it did not exactly meet all of Maybellines claims, I am happy with what it did do. I do not wear my eyeshadow for 24 straight hours, so I dont need it to last that long. The colors are great, the price is great, and I cant wait to pick up some more soon!
