Mascara doesn`t really get me excited like it does for some others. I`m more of a nail polish/lip color girl. I don`t really experiment too much with different brands and such. I find what I like and stick with it for a long while. The last few weeks, however, I have introduced 2 new mascaras to my rotation.
The three I have been using together and on their own are: Julep Volumizing Mascara, Maybelline Lash Discovery, and Clinique High Impact. I have been using Clinique for YEARS and absolutely love it. The Julep and Maybelline are new ones, though, and I`m actually quite enjoying them. The Maybelline I bought because I had heard good things about it and the Julep just happened to come in my September Julep Maven box.
The Julep one is a fiber mascara. So many people will tell you to avoid a fibered mascara if you are a contact lense wearer (which I am). For that reason I haven`t bought any, even those that got good reviews. I took a chance trying this, though, and am enjoying it. It doesn`t give me a false lash look or anything but it does lengthen and define my lashes. I`d say it is good for just day to day wear.
Maybelline Lash Discovery I bought because everyone said it is fantastic for the lower lashes. It IS awesome for the lower lashes. You`ll end up coating lashes you didn`t even realize you had! However, I also enjoy this for my upper lashes. I don`t have long, thich lashes so this does a nice job of getting in there and coating them all the way down to the root. No, it also doesn`t give me the appearance of false lashes, but for normal wear, I`d say it is pretty good.
The last one is the Clinique High Impact mascara. I adore this one. I haven`t come across a mascara I love as much. It gives me soft, fluttery, thick, full lashes that are amazingly black. It doesn`t get crunchy, either. This is still my all time favorite mascara. For day AND night wear it is fan-freaking-tastic. HIGHLY recommend this one.
On days that I really want to play up my lashes I will do a combo...and yes, I have even gone so far as to wear all three. I start with the Julep on my top lashes, then finish the top with the Clinique, lastly will use the Maybelline on the lower lashes. BEAUTIFUL lashes. That gives me the most amazing lashes with a mascara I`ve ever had.
If you have any mascara recommendations, I`d love to hear them (and also WHY they work for your lashes....that helps me get a better idea if it is something that would work for mine)
