My husband and I treasure this tiny bottle of Marmite that we hauled all the way from Malaysia and have been rationing it in limited quantities so we can stretch our supply of Marmite before we get another one:) We grew up eating this as kids and the way we eat it is by mixing it in our congee or porridge and I`ve heard of people marinating it in ribs before deep frying the ribs. Hmm...sounds like a good idea, maybe I should try it with tofu?:) Anyways, Marmite is a yeast extract that tastes pretty similar to Vegemite or even Bovril which is a meat extract. Marmite is made from yeast extract, which is a by-product of beer brewing. I am not sure if any of you have tried it before but I know that Australians love spreading Vegemite on their breads, pretty interesting right?:)
