On Tuesday I saw Maleficent (Along with X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Fault in our Stars) and I had to admit it was pretty good.
Although, I thought it would be a bit better, it was both cute, and sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat worthy.
The story of how Maleficent turned evil, how she came to curse Aurora, it was well written. Her wings getting taking just so her friend could be the King. Not to mention Angelina Jolie did an amazing job. Her expressions were key on. They made me laugh and cry and feel.
The part I didn`t expect was how she came to love Aurora, how she was the one to break the curse. That surprised me, but it was different, and I like different.
I thought it`d be more darker, a bit more killing - at least enough for a Disney movie.
But the fact that there wasn`t too much of a love story there was a nice twist. Most Disney movies (or any movie for that matter) always has the girl getting the guy in the end. And it`s nice, but this movie didn`t need it. It was already good on it`s own.
So, if you haven`t seen it yet, go see it. It is well worth putting on some pants and going outside to see.
