Last night I got to meet Academy Award Winner Jake Gyllenhaal! I was invited to a screening of End of Watch in New York City that included a Q&A with the star actor. The event was moderated by a former New York Times journalist that used to cover the New York cop and Organized crime scene. Also in the Q&A was Jaime FitzSimons who was the Tech Adviser for the film and a former LAPD.
First about the movie. It`s not your typical cop movie. Jake and Michael Pena really does a great job in getting you attached to the character showing how there`s a bond between partners. Jake and Michael for their roles actually rode along with LAPD for 5 months, 3 days a week. While there`s a lot of gruesomeness and gritty gun play. There`s also a lot of humor with the interaction between partners. But when they get that call, they`re all business just like the real cops they portray.
The ending for me was a little predictable. Everything I guess was correct. But still I would HIGHLY recommend this film.
Back to the Q&A, Jake was very open to answer questions and take a few pictures with fans afterwards. He`s currently doing an off Broadway show in New York so it must have been a very long day already but he was nice to fans.
Talk the TALK
1) Do you like cop movies, what are some of your favorites? (Eddie Murphy old ones come to mind!)
2) Are you a fan of Jake Gyllenhaal? (I didn`t realize he was the boy in Day After Tomorrow!!!)
2nd pic is from the Q&A, I was in the 3rd row with really no one in front of me!!!
3rd pic is of the Cinema Heads meet up group that I joined that I got the invitation from!
