I call it my NYC Filipino dream because I`ve yet to visit this restaurant. I visited their outpost at the Dumbo Market in Brooklyn, but that had a very limited menu and it was freezing cold outdoors. This restaurant is Maharlika which is one of the few and highly touted Filipino restaurants in New York City at least that I know of. Being in the lower east side of course they were close down because of Hurricane Sandy but was able to open yesterday for Brunch. I`ve yet to make my way into Manhattan from Brooklyn yet.
What are they most known for you might ask?
Pampangan Style Sizzling Sisig is their signature dish! pig ears, snout, and belly cooked three times(boiled, grilled, sautéed) w/ garlic, silis, red onions & kalamansi served with garlic fried rice!
What I would recommend which I tried in their outpost is their Chicken Adobo as well as their Longaniza which is a Filipino sausage. The sausage is awesome!
