This month, MAC launched their first permanent nail polish collection, which includes 31 different colors almost 3 different finishes (Cream, Frost and Pearl). One of the most exciting parts of the collection is that many of the nail lacquers are based on some of MACs most popular lipstick and lipgloss shades (like Snob, Morange and Impassioned)- so those who love to match, youll love this collection!
Im fairly new to MAC Nail Lacquers ($16 USD / $19 CAD), so my opinions are based on these lacquers (and the few Ive tried earlier this year). MAC Nail Lacquers dont have the best reputation in the world, so I think that many people are biased when they approach this new collection. The truth is, Im fairly impressed.
Ive been wearing four different shades lately from the new collection, including Saint Germain (a light cool pink cream), Girl About Town (a bright blue fuchsia cream), Flaming Rose (a true red cream) and Screaming Bright (a super glittery pale gold pearl). While Im not a fan of the high price tag for a single polish, I am a fan of the fact all of these colors looked gorgeous with only two coats, and none of them were streaky. Saint Germain was probably the sheerest of them all, but I was still happy with two coats (you might opt for three if you want a super opaque finish).
With a base coat and top coat, I would get about 3-4 days of chip-free wear out of these polishes not the best, but certainly not the worst Ive experienced. They do have a gorgeous patent leather shine, however I did find within a day or so the shine dulled away.
The best part about MAC Nail Lacquers that does put them a step above drugstore or salon brands? You can try before you buy, so you can at least get a gauge on the pigmentation before shelling out the cash. Even though Im still a China Glaze fangirl at heart, I always have room for some luxurious additions to the nail polish collection, and these I must say, are pretty darn good. Im not sure if MAC updated the formula or not, but my unbiased opinion is that these shades (at least) are great.
