I had lunch with my mom today and she wanted to order the Sinigang. Since living in a multi-cultural island, I`m glad to get a chance at trying foods from all over the world, and my mom`s friend introduced her to Sinigang. It`s a sour Filipino soup or stew that has tamarind in it that makes it super sour. - -;; The Sinigang we ordered had shrimp, tomatoes, eggplants, string beans, and something that looks like a chili pepper but isn`t a pepper, I think. The sourness of the soup really wakes you up. It`s the burst of sour flavor that is in your mouth. I like to put my rice in a bowl and add soup, it tastes less sour that way. Sinigang is not my favorite Filipino dish, but it brings back memories when my dad`s co-worker used to make Sinigang for me and my friends. LOL. I think the co-worker`s Sinigang tasted better because it was less sour and it had pork. :P My family doesn`t know how to make this so we only get it from the restraunt, overall, a pretty nice soup if it`s not overly sour. Have you ever tried Sinigang? :DD
