This is what I made myself for lunch today. I was really hungry this morning so around 11am I decided I was going to make my lunch early and enjoy it. I took a large pita bread that I get fresh from my local Lebanese bakery and stuffed it with 4 ounces of warmed lean pastrami round. I then topped it with sauteed peppers and onions. Smothered it in some spicy brown mustard and topped it with salad. I wrapped it up and it was this big, honkin` sandwich that looked like it could be bad for you -- but in all reality it wasn`t that bad at all. The pita bread is relatively lower in calories and the lean pastrami is so yummy -- protein packed with a very, very low fat content.
I`ve been going back and fourth with my weight loss the last couple of weeks and this week I got my head screwed on tight and my head in the game. So I`ve been on "plan" (I follow Weight Watchers) and this wasn`t bad point wise -- only 7 points. It just goes to show looks can be deceiving with a sandwich. You can make something that`s healthy look like something that`s not. Goes with the "I can eat anything I want" mentality ;).
Do you like pastrami sandwiches?
