ike`s is a really popular sandwich shop in san francisco. their sandwiches have the funniest/most inappropriate/awesome names ever! i`ve been recommended by a lot of bay area friends to check it out. i wasn`t quite sure what to order so i texted my friend who actually has an ike`s VIP card (she goes there that often!) and asked for a recommendation.
i ended up going with the elvis keith. it has halal chicken, teriyaki, wasabi mayo, and swiss cheese. i ordered it with wheat bread even though everyone recommends the dutch crunch... i had to try and at least order a healthy bread though!
the sandwich comes with a bag of chips and a caramel apple lollipop. the chips were quite good and i think most people just snack on them while they wait for their sandwich.
my sandwich was SO YUMMY! ohhhhh my goodness it was so good! it`s not a cheap sandwich (about $10 once tax is added... boo SF sales tax!), but it`s really big, definitely enough for two meals. i wasn`t sure about the wasabi mayo because i`m not really a wasabi person, but i ended up really liking it.
it`s becoming more and more of a touristy spot but i still highly recommend checking it out. i definitely want to come back sometime in the future and try out one of the many other options available. maybe i`ll even go for the $20 kryptonite someday... (it includes roast beef, corned beef, pastrami, salami, turkey, bacon, ham, mozzarella sticks, stuffed jalapeno poppers, beer battered onion rings, avocado, pesto, extra pepper jack. basically heart attack/obesity in a sandwich! LOL)
