This was my lunch of the day from the other day. I actually didn`t pay a thing for this meal! There was a posting on Facebook stating the first 150 customers who came down to the Harrows would receive a FREE apartment size pie. In case you`re not familar, Harrow`s is a local chicken pie shop - they make homemade chicken pies and sell them refrigerated, frozen or cooked; while they also sell sides (mashed potatoes, veggies, etc.) and fruit pies.
Anyway, Harrows had teamed up with The Phantom Gourmet and ended up giving out 450 pies to customers from 11-1:30. All you had to do was walk in, go up to the counter and they handed you a pie. Some people were actually getting 3 pies per person so they could bring them to family members/friends they knew that weren`t able to make it there in that time frame. The place as an absolute MADHOUSE, but for the most part the in/out was going quickly. Anyway!
This particular pie I baked up (it comes refrigerated, the pie crust needs to be baked off in the oven). This is considered an "apartment size" pie which is considered TWO SERVINGS. This was actually four servings for my boyfriend and I. The pie is made with a white chicken gravy (homemade) and it`s paired with white meat chicken breast (in large chunks) and it`s paired with diced carrots and potatoes. The crust is nice and thick, but it`s very airy and not heavy in your belly. It`s truly a meal in itself. I was going to make mashed potatoes, but since potato was already in it, we had it like it was. I enjoyed it, my boyfriend, who is the pickiest eater known to man (hah, I kid) said it was good but he doesn`t really care for gravy - but he was a trooper ;).
