I purchased LOreals Stroke of Midnight about a month ago at Walgreens because the color was just this really pretty dark steel grey shade that leaned toward the black/blue side of the spectrum. Typically these LOreal shades run $5.99 each, but I purchased them when they were buy one get one 50% off AND my beauty friend at Walgreens hooked me up with some coupons so I paid under $2 for the polish, so I cant complain. Its a gorgeous shade and applies thicker, but unfortunately you can see the stroke lines in it. Regardless, 2 coats and its truly opaque, but you could get away with just one if youre in a hurry. In my swatches I only did 1 coat since I was in a bit of a rush. The funny thing is; I purchased this Revlon polish in the shade Black with Envy at Big Lots for $1. The only reason I purchased it was because this shade has ALWAYS caught my eye and for a $1 who am I to leave it on the shelf? I brought it home and after going to put it on my nail polish rack I was like This reminds me of something and I dont know why So I pulled out my Walgreens bag [my boyfriend had just put my new polish rack up on the wall which meant all my polishes in my box and bag could go up] and grabbed Stroke of Midnight. They are the SAME EXACT SHADE! I will say this though, the Revlon applies a bit sheerer than the LOreal, but even with one coat you can tell they are insanely similar, if not the same exact shade. Of course with as almost any Revlon polish with 2 coats it would also be completely opaque.
So if youve had your eye on Stroke of Midnight definitely check out your local Big Lots and see if they have Revlons Black with Envy because instead of paying nearly $6, you could play a whopping $1 and have the same shade in your own collection.
Would you say these two are a dupe of one another?
Do you own either shade in your personal collection?
