I`ve made it a point not to repeat any outfits for work for as long as possible. I`m over a month into this promise and am still going strong! It`s really about mixing and matching the pieces you have. One of my favorites it pairing a structured blazer with a bold dress - it`s sleek and chic!
Call me old fashioned, but I used to think that blazers were only for dress pants and pencil skirts when it came time for `work clothes.` So there I was, sitting on top of probably 10 blazers and not taking advantage of them when I could. Boring! Blazers are great for wearing with dresses! :)
I really like this blazer/dress combo in particular because of the contrast in color and the lines it gives me. The blazer has a puffed sleeve in just the right place (always make sure that your sleeves hit your natural shoulder! Otherwise it can look too tight or bulky) and has modern zipper detailing on the sleeves and down the back. The dress is a bright pink which adds color to an otherwise plain outfit. The dress is almost like a pencil skirt in that it hugs closer to my legs and so the waist of the blazer gives a great line and great shape!
I paired a comfy pair of grey heels with my outfit (pointed toes, of course! To give the impression of longer legs - especially because I`m short!) and minimal jewelry so it wasn`t overdone.
It`s amazing how simple basic pieces like a chic blazer and bold dress can really pair well together and bring together a whole outfit! :)
