Lo Mein

I tried my hand at oriental cooking last night and pleasantly surprised myself. Im new to the kitchen business i.e cooking lol
I have only started cooking real meals since the past 4 months, because that`s how long I have been married :)

My mom is my guide and my inspiration. 99% of my recipes are obtained from her. I always say to myself, if my food can taste half as good as hers then it`s a successful attempt.

Tonight`s recipe was one of hers as well. I made chicken lo mein and cashew chicken, which I forgot to photograph and by the time I remembered it was all gone lol

For the lo mein I basically got the noodles ready as per usual, added sautéed veggies and chicken. The chicken was first marinated in soya sauce, corn flour and Chinese salt for an hour before I fried it. Then for added flavor I took a cup of water, added a chicken cube to it as well as some soya sauce, Chinese salt, some red pepper flakes and poured this liquid mixture on top of the noodles. I let everything cook a while longer so the liquid could dry up a little and viola the lo mein were ready! :-)
