For my cultural study of dress class we had to do a few blogs about dress that related to the chapter we were reading. So I thought I would share them with you.
Its so cute to see children dress up in costumes of what they want to be when they grow up. Through doing so children are able to explore different kinds of life outcomes such as fantasies, occupations, or hobbies. These themes that they choose are an expression of their individual selves and helps support their development in adulthood so that they can them have a strong sense of who they are as an individual later on in life. This individualism we strongly approve of in the United states and normally express through the right of freedom and choice. Little kids dress up as who they aspire to be or to act out a character they really like or even a character or someone they look up to as their hero.
Most kids love to play dress up and believe that it is fun. This is an important part of growing up because it lets you explore your options later in life in an innocent state of mind.
