During a weekend trip, I visited a lavender farm. I was originally planning to have a walk in their beautiful lavender garden, but unfortunately most lavenders have been harvested by this time of the year. There were still a few patches of them, but I didn`t think it was worth the $10 entry fee.
Instead, my family and I sat on the porch of the lavender farm`s little wooden house and enjoyed some chocolate lavender ice cream as well as a blueberry shortcake with lots of lavender flavoured whipping cream.
The chocolate lavender ice cream is not photographed here as it just came in a small Dixie cup. It didn`t look anything different from a normal cupped ice cream, but it had a nice lavender taste. It`s hard to discribe the taste of lavender, but it added another complexity to the chocolate ice cream.
In the photograph above is the blueberry shortcake with lavender whipped cream. The shortcake is a slice of warm banana bread. On top, there is a thick pile of delicious naturally flavoured lavender whipped cream. Blueberries were then added on top. The whipped cream is not too sweet but extremely creamy, which is right up my alley. The blueberries were plump and the sweetness just right. This was so delicious that I could eat this all day!
Next time, I hope to visit the lavender farm again before they harvest everything, and eat this delicious dessert again.
