My brother and I love trying out new places to eat, and one of the places that has been on our list for a while is The Lakeview Diner in downtown Toronto.
We saw this diner featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives all the way back in December and have since vowed to go. Oddly enough, even though the place is open 24hrs, we hadn`t found the time to go. It is a bit of a trek from where we live, so every time one of us would suggest it, the other would have an excuse not to go lol.
Finally, we decided to make the trip down for a late night meal. Despite the distance, it was well worth it!
My brother ended up ordering the fish and chips, and I ended up with the Lakeview Clubhouse Stack which is their club sandwich with bacon, lettuce, tomato, sweet chili mayo and their famous Cornflake Chicken. As it turns out, the cornflake chicken is what Guy Fieri tired when he visited the diner. It`s fried chicken breast that has been breaded in cornflakes to make it extra crunchy.
I love ordering club sandwiches, but I always ask for it `without the club` which means without the piece of bread in between. I find that though it can make it a little messier to eat, you get more flavour rather than just bread!
They had huge portions and considering they are open 24 hours, I think we will make this place part of our late-night rotation!
Have you ever discovered a local eating spot after seeing it on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives (or any other TV show)?
