The other day my boyfriend and I decided to go eat at a Mexican joint just up the street. I always want to go eat Asian food but this time he persuaded me to hit up this place.
This restaurant is called La Nortenas and they have a traditional Mexican theme and their food is pretty well priced. When we sat down we got a free plate of homemade salsa and tortilla chips, their salsa was really good and had a good kick to it.
I wanted to have something with fish so I decided to get the Fried Tilapia Torta. A torta is basically a Mexican sandwich. Inside my torta there was tomato, lettuce, avocado, grilled onions and a good amount of fried tilapia. It came with a side of pickled jalapenos. The tilapia had really good flavor, I was surprised how good their food actually was. My boyfriend got a big bowl and Menudo which is a Mexican soup made from beef tripe, beef hooves and hominy. This came with a side of bread, chopped onions, cilantro, lime, dried Mexican oregano and dried crushed chili flakes. My boyfriend really likes Menudo but I am not a fan of it at all because the taste of the beef tripe is too strong for me. We as well ordered a large drink to share and we got Horchata which is made from ground rice, cinnamon, vanilla and milk.
All this food only cost is about $13 which was a great deal. I would definitely be going to this place again and trying other stuff from their menu.
