Kula pork

I made homemade kula pork since I had all the ingredients. This is a simple meal with very little ingredients needed. Although, the cooking method wasn`t traditional, but the taste was really good. I ended up making my kula pork using a slow cooker.

The ingredients needed to make kula pork:

2-3lb pork shoulder
Hawaiian red salt
Liquid smoke
Banana leaves- 1-2
Alminumum foil

Cut off any excess fat from the pork shoulder; rub Hawaiian salt all over the meat; sprinkle a few drops all over; washed the banana leaves and placed the pork on top and gentle rolled the meat until you reached the end. Using the foil gently wrapped and loose and placed in the slow cooker. THis would prevent the banana leaves from drying out. Depending on the size of the pork it would take between 6-10 hours for cooking. Afterwards unwrapped and shred the meat. Cut up some cabbage and sauteed in a pan with light oil and garlic until tender. Using the liquid from the kula pork add to the cabbage and continue to cook for 2-3 mins with the lid on. Add in the pork and gently stir for few more mins. Served with rice. Enjoy!
