GamJa JoRim is one of my favorite Korean side dishes =) I always go to two specific Korean restaurants when I eat my bibimbap because they always serve these as side dishes.<br /><br />GamJa JoRim is better known as the brownish marinated potatoes you see in the photo. The potatoes are marinated in a blend of soy sauce and honey to give it a very savory and sweet taste. Depending on which Korean restaurant you go to, some may serve the potatoes more soft than others, some more sweeter and some more savory.<br />
<br />This is a great side dish for those who can't take spicy as this is one of the few non-spicy options. They're very sticky though. <br /><br />I remember trying to make them with my sister once and we failed miserably =( I learned from my boyfriend that after boiling the potatoes for a quick moment, we had to add some starch and fry them first or else the potatoes would fall apart due to the liquid. <br />
<br />I can probably make a meal out of this because it's such a mild yet delicious dish. The only drawback is that potatoes are mostly starch and fill you up quick. <br /><br />I think I'll try to make these again with my boyfriend's help. =)<br />
