If you have a pear shaped body this means that your figure is smaller on the top and wider on the bottom. your shoulders are typically narrow, breast size is small to average, waist is slender. your hips, thighs, and bottom are fuller.
When shopping for clothing you want to visually alter your proportion and create balance. For tops try a boat neck or off the shoulder so it balances with the lower half of the body. Avoid the super snug tops because they will exaggerate the lower half of the body and make it look even bigger than it really is. A similar effect can happen when wearing a belted dress or cinched waist.
On the bottom wearing dark colors will slim you down. Try low-rise pants because they minimize the hips. Also a good pant to try are straight leg or ones with a slight flare. For skirts stay with A-line or circle skirts.
Stay away from pants that have pleats and side pockets, they just add bulk in areas we dont want it. Also avoid drawstring pants unless you are wearing them around the house or to bed. Try and avoid tapered pants if possible.
