Mardi Gras is coming up and I`m so excited! First off, living in Louisiana means PARTY PARTY PARTY, especially in south Louisiana. The best thing about Mardi Gras is KING CAKE well after the awesome Parades it is oh and getting off of school! You see it everywhere with many different flavors. =D
King Cake is similar to a cinnamon roll but not cut up. It`s twisted bread with all sorts of delicious filling: cinnamon, apple, cream cheese, strawberry cream cheese, strawberries, etc. It is then topped with glaze and colorful sugar. The price of King Cake varies. Walmart sells it for $10+ depending on the size. The King Cake in the picture is from Gambinos Bakery. I chose to get the cream cheese filling because it was one of the cheaper king cakes for $20.
Sadly for me, I have to buy another one. When you purchase a King Cake there is usually a baby inside. The baby is supposedly a symbol for Jesus but it also means that you have to buy the next King Cake. -__-
My favorite King Cake is from a bakery in New Orleans called Hi-Do but sadly there isn`t one where I live. I should get Lisa Turtle to bring me one. LOL
Have you tried King Cake before? Ever been to a Parade?
