It`s been a while since Kesha has been in the spotlight of the media. Recently Kesha claimed that her music producer, Dr. Luke, has sexually, physically, emotionally, and verbally abused her for almost ten years. She is filing a lawsuit against him for abusing her since the age of 18 (now 27).
She claims that he would `force` her to take drugs and drink alcohol to impair her, while he made sexual advances. While a source claims that she was also verbally and physically abused when Dr. Luke `would lock her in a room and tell her she couldn`t come out until she finished a song.`
Dr. Luke`s response to this is to file a lawsuit against Kesha and her mother for the `breach of contract and defamation,` but it`s questioned why he still wants to work with her. It`s said that this counter lawsuit is a sign of physical and emotional abuse since instead of letting Kesha go, he`s planning to `drain her dry over a legal battle.`
As a result of the abuse experienced by Kesha, she has been on the `brink of death` with her battle of bulimia. She went to rehab back in January to get help for her eating disorder. The treatment there has helped her become a stronger person, such that she is able to finally take a stand against Dr. Luke.
Thoughts: Statistics has shown that a lot of sexual assault crimes are not reported. If what Kesha claims is true, it`s unfortunate that she`s experienced various forms of abuse over such a long period of time. It`s takes a lot of courage to come out with a story like this and it`s good to hear that she`s willing to finally stand up for herself and stop this cycle of abuse.
Do you believe Kesha?
